If you could step into Tracy Shillcox' kindergarten classroom, her nominator wrote, you would see and hear singing, dancing, hugs, encouraging words, hands-on projects, smiles, giggles, and happy, happy children each and every day!
For Tracy, teaching has never been just a job…. It is her passion! She comes in early, leaves late (often with work to take home), and spends weekends in her classroom - all to provide her students with the best day ever when they walk in her door each morning.
Not only does she spend hours planning great lessons for her classroom, she has also led many special activities that students were excited to attend at night such as Market Day, Bedtime Books, and Get Up and Move.
Tracy strongly believes that the success of her students depends on a team effort between home and school. Therefore, she incorporates phone calls, emails, handwritten notes, and a private Facebook page with parents to keep them in the loop on what is happening each day at school. Parents love her, are comfortable talking with her, and miss her when their child moves on to the next grade.
Her classroom is where you would wish your child could be! Tracy is truly one in a million!
